Message for Mayo College Girls School First Regional Model United Nations Conference
19 April 2012, Ajmer (India) - Message from Dr. Mukesh Kapila read out by Devisha Kumari Singh, Director General, MCGSMUN, during welcome address to the delegates at the opening ceremony
"I would like to congratulate Mayo College Girl's School on its Silver Jubilee Year and its success in becoming one the country's premier schools. I was delighted to hear that in celebration of your Silver Jubilee, Mayo College Girls' School (MCGS) is hosting a Model United Nations (MUN.)
The words 'reate-evolve-preserve' are very well thought out as this is what we need to do. It is heartening to see young minds from this region involved and engaged in resolving environmental, social, economic development and global issues.
I am pleased to hear that the highlight of the MCGSMUN 2012 is its "Commission on the Status of Women" committee. There can be few topics of greater importance for our collective future than of female empowerment. The idea of having an all-male committee for discussing gender is an innovative way to come up with new ideas to overcome constraints and obstacles to gender inequalities. It is also good that you will be looking at another critical issue for the future of our world through your UNEP committee discussion on making a "Feasible Move towards Low Carbon Societies."
All of you, as the youth of your country, have an important role to play in our future - locally, nationally, and globally. I would like to wish you fruitful deliberations and look forward to your success as our young leaders of tomorrow."
